No, you cannot summon us by tapping a little car on a map. We’re old-fashioned like that.
Calling the Dispatcher: Keep It Snappy
When you call, we need three things:
- Where are you?
A business name works. If you’re at a house, give us the address. - Where are you going?
“Downtown somewhere” is technically an answer, but an actual destination works better. - How many people?
Two people need a car. Six people need something bigger. Physics remains undefeated.
That’s pretty much it.
You don’t need to explain how you ended up at the bar, what happened to your Uber driver, or why Kevin disappeared with your car keys.
We just need to know where Kevin left you.
Rates and Pricing: No Surges, No Surprises
Abraxi Taxi uses flat zone rates.
Want to know what the ride costs? Ask us. We’ll tell you before the trip.
If you know somebody cheaper, you are welcome to call them. We won’t take it personally. Well, maybe a little, but we’ll recover.
The important part is this: our price doesn’t suddenly change because it started raining, a concert ended, or 10,000 people decided to leave downtown at the same time.
Our regular additional charges include:
- $2 per extra passenger
- $1 per extra stop
- 50¢ per minute for waiting time
- Credit cards are accepted, subject to our current minimum charge. Ask when booking if needed.
Tipping is always appreciated, and cash still works remarkably well despite repeated predictions of its death.
Pro Tips for Not Missing Your Taxi
Call from your own phone.
If we need to find you, calling your cousin’s girlfriend’s phone while she is already headed home complicates matters.
Stay reasonably close to where you told us you would be.
You are a passenger, not an Easter egg.
Wait somewhere safe and visible.
Streetlights are our friends. Bushes are not.
Answer your phone.
If a strange number calls two minutes after you ordered a taxi, there is an excellent chance it is your taxi.
And if you schedule a pickup for a specific time, please be ready at that time.
For early-morning rides and important trips, advance notice is always appreciated. Airports, doctors and airplanes tend to be annoyingly unsympathetic to the phrase, “My ride was late.”
A Few Final Things
We do not pick up at Jacksonville International Airport.
We can take you there, but we currently do not provide pickups from JAX.
Some trips may require prepayment.
Years of experience have taught us that not every telephone call represents humanity at its finest.
No smoking in the cab.
The next passenger probably doesn’t want to experience your Marlboro memories.
